I remember we had the radio on. It broke into a program and told us the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor. We were so worried because our brother and two brothers in laws were in the service at that time. We missed them so much and always looked forward to mail from them and waiting for them to come home. I remember that gas, shoes, and sugar were rationed. We were so happy and relieved that the Germans had surrendered and that the Japanese also surrendered after the atomic bomb was dropped on them.
