Rural Challenge

The Local History and Technology Class attended the annual Rural Challenge Conference in Bristol, VA on May 13 and 14. During this conference students and teachers discussed place-based education and how technology can be used to better small rural schools.

The Rural Challenge was established in 1995 with a 50 million dollar one-for-one matching grant from the Annenberg Foundation. This gift is the single largest private investment ever made for the reform of rural schools.

Also attending this conference were students and teachers from Northern Georgia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and other parts of Virginia.
