The Blue Ridge Institute is located at Ferrum College in Franklin County, Virginia. It is most known as having the greatest collection of Southern folk music in the nation, but it is also the official Folk Life Repository of the Commonwealth of Virginia. In the spring of 1998 Rocky Gap students took a long bus trip to the BRI to see how it to do it right. Amy Brown conducted a tour of the facilities and explained how she was organizing and digitizing the massive collection.
